Julien Meunié

Julien was born in Vichy, France. He studied art and theater at Clermont-Ferrand as he finished his career in French Literature. Pursuing his interest for theater and dance, in 1979 joined the Dance Company “L´Atelier Contact” in Paris
With the dancer Didier Silhol they developed workshops they named “Graphism et Danse” which combined painting and Contact Improvisation dance. In 1982 travels to Mallorca, a Balearic island, Spain, where he expanded his career as a painter. Totally immersed by the islands beauty and light, fascinated by the red earth, the Mediterranean blue and white almond blossoms, landscapes became his main focus. As he continued to research through his painting, figures appeared as motifs in the works often being mythological themes. Very talented with colors he had a great range of techniques at hand, and felt at ease using water colors, pastel, oil and in his last years acrylic and collage. Julien was especially well known for his big canvases, for his landscapes, seascapes and human figures.
